New Years Was Calm.

January 02nd, 2006 | Category: Cristina, Family

We got back from Glamis new year’s eve. We were all very tired so Cristina’s family and myself were all very calm. It was nice, because the kids were either sleeping or sitting there in a state of coma. The food was awesome, we had macaroni, ham, mash potatoes, and salad. All very good. I fell asleep right before the new year, and woke up during the countdown, jit to say happy new year!

Okay ya’ll, this is my first post of the year. I hope 2006 is just as good, if not better, than 2005.

Glamis, CA.

December 31st, 2005 | Category: Cristina, Family, Play

I’m just back from what was supposed to be a one day trip to Disneyland; turns out that renting an RV and a U-Haul trailer, then loading up the family and quads isn’t meant for Disneyland. We ended up in the beautifully desolate Glamis, CA : www.glamisdunes.com . I’ll update this post after new years.

Update: 01/02/2006
Glamis was so much fun. I had never been to Glamis, and hadn’t been to sand dunes since I was a kid. We left Wednesday night and got there around 4 am Thursday morning. Unfortunately as we drove into the flats it was so dark we drove right into the loose sand and got the RV and trailer stuck. We decided to sleep there until the sun came out. As the sun came out, we got up, and some guys approached us telling us how to get out of the sand, as we were struggling to get out, some guy drove up in a navy blue Ford F-150 FX4, he hooked it up to the RV and pulled us out real fast; it was awesome.
Here’s a pic:

This is the same model F-150 that pulled us out.

That night we had at most 2 hours of sleep, we were excited and so we got on the quads and started riding, we rode for a long time before we came back to eat. Later that night our “neighbors,” which had these $100,000 dollars Sand Rails, offered to give us rides in their Sand Rails.
Here’s a pic :
Sand Rail
This is the same model as the ones we rode. One had over 500 horse power. Pretty sweet.

night fire, just chillin
Here’s us in front of the fire and you can see the sand rail in the background.

They took us over to this large dune called Oldsmobile. This is where everyone gathers in their trucks, bikes, and buggies, and all the vehicles face the hill in rows, it must have been 3 or 4 rows deep. It was awesome; the buggies we were in flew up the 200ft dune, which was closer to a mountain of sand, in just a few seconds. The engine would scream so loud and all I could see was about 25ft in front of me. Riding in those buggies is ten times better than any rollercoaster. We rode on those buggies the next day too, they’re even better in the day because you can go faster. We rode them hard, we even broke one of the buggies rear rims, which had us sitting in the middle of the dessert with nothing to do for an hour or so. When we got it fixed we headed out to the races. This is where everyone gathers and a clear path is made about a mile long, maybe longer, and people race down the path. While vehicles and people line the edges of the path; it’s pretty sweet. There was this Monster energy drink sponsored sand rail. When it would race by, it’s front wheels would rise and you could see the entire bottom of the car, the monster logo was painted underneath it and it looked pretty cool. We raced down that path too, I don’t know how fast we were going, but the front wheels were coming up.

Anyway, all in all it was fun and I’m glad I had this experience, we didn’t end up riding the quads all week because we just hung out with the neighbors. Hope your vacation is going as good as mine is… Peace.
