Glamis, CA.
I’m just back from what was supposed to be a one day trip to Disneyland; turns out that renting an RV and a U-Haul trailer, then loading up the family and quads isn’t meant for Disneyland. We ended up in the beautifully desolate Glamis, CA : www.glamisdunes.com . I’ll update this post after new years.
Update: 01/02/2006
Glamis was so much fun. I had never been to Glamis, and hadn’t been to sand dunes since I was a kid. We left Wednesday night and got there around 4 am Thursday morning. Unfortunately as we drove into the flats it was so dark we drove right into the loose sand and got the RV and trailer stuck. We decided to sleep there until the sun came out. As the sun came out, we got up, and some guys approached us telling us how to get out of the sand, as we were struggling to get out, some guy drove up in a navy blue Ford F-150 FX4, he hooked it up to the RV and pulled us out real fast; it was awesome.
Here’s a pic:

This is the same model F-150 that pulled us out.
That night we had at most 2 hours of sleep, we were excited and so we got on the quads and started riding, we rode for a long time before we came back to eat. Later that night our “neighbors,” which had these $100,000 dollars Sand Rails, offered to give us rides in their Sand Rails.
Here’s a pic :

This is the same model as the ones we rode. One had over 500 horse power. Pretty sweet.

Here’s us in front of the fire and you can see the sand rail in the background.
They took us over to this large dune called Oldsmobile. This is where everyone gathers in their trucks, bikes, and buggies, and all the vehicles face the hill in rows, it must have been 3 or 4 rows deep. It was awesome; the buggies we were in flew up the 200ft dune, which was closer to a mountain of sand, in just a few seconds. The engine would scream so loud and all I could see was about 25ft in front of me. Riding in those buggies is ten times better than any rollercoaster. We rode on those buggies the next day too, they’re even better in the day because you can go faster. We rode them hard, we even broke one of the buggies rear rims, which had us sitting in the middle of the dessert with nothing to do for an hour or so. When we got it fixed we headed out to the races. This is where everyone gathers and a clear path is made about a mile long, maybe longer, and people race down the path. While vehicles and people line the edges of the path; it’s pretty sweet. There was this Monster energy drink sponsored sand rail. When it would race by, it’s front wheels would rise and you could see the entire bottom of the car, the monster logo was painted underneath it and it looked pretty cool. We raced down that path too, I don’t know how fast we were going, but the front wheels were coming up.
Anyway, all in all it was fun and I’m glad I had this experience, we didn’t end up riding the quads all week because we just hung out with the neighbors. Hope your vacation is going as good as mine is… Peace.
No commentsChristmas was awesome!!!
I had a great time this Christmas. This Christmas was one of the best in a very long time. It started with the traditional Mexican Christmas dinner. Yes; we had some tamales and they had major flavor. In one word, they were awesome. Then I kind of just sat on the couch for a little bit waiting for my girlfriend to finish getting ready. I was feeling pretty bad, because I am broke, and I can’t really afford to buy expensive gifts for everyone, but Cristina’s family didn’t care about that. Cristina really wanted a voice recorder for class, so that’s what I gave her for Christmas. It’s awesome, the Olympus WS-100, with lots of features. Anyway, her family gave me gifts too, which I wasn’t expecting; that made me feel pretty good. At the end, when all the kids had opened their gifts and there weren’t any gifts left, Cristina’s brother said his last gift to all of us was to take us to Disneyland, man that’s going to be awesome with the whole family. We’re going this Wednesday; I’ll probably post something about that after Wednesday. Anyway, I got a jacket, some shirts, and some cool school supplies. I love Cristina and her family very much. With this said, I hope all of your Christmas’ were great, If you didn’t celebrate Christmas, then hope whatever you celebrated was great. Peace out!
40 year old virgin ( Unrated DVD) - Review
I rented The 40-Year-Old Virgin last night and it was so hilarious I watched it twice ( http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0405422/ ). The second time I watched it I turned the commentary turned on, and even that was really funny. I thought this movie was totally original and definitely worth my time. I also watched all the deleted scenes, extras, and hair waxing documentary; all of which were extremely funny. Apart from the actual movie, I used my makeshift home theatre for the first time. Man is it great! I’ll have to post some pictures when I get a chance, when I do, you will all be amazed. It’s in my garage, and the screen is over 9 ft wide. I set it up with decent speakers and it works great.

Alright, so here’s the deal, The 40-Year-Old Virgin is great (two thumbs up). Go rent it from blockbuster or netflix today.
